Scott's Analysis
Homework Will Payoff
August 20, 2010

This is the year the extra time and effort you put in will payoff. I have to disagree with my co-writer about preseason football this year. Normally I would not pay much attention to preseason however this year there are so many jobs to be won, especially at the running back position. If you go after the 6th or 7th pick in a 12-team league I would definitely go after two of the top receivers. You can find top value in rounds 3, 4, and 5 at the running back position. You can then find value in rounds 6 and 7 for your tight-end and quarterback. Just think if you draft in the 10th position, would you rather have Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald or Cedric Benson and Steven Jackson. With what I refer to value, you can have two of the top picks at their position or maybe the 7th and 8th best picks at running back. This is where your extra homework will payoff. Most magazines or so called Fantasy Shows will go out on a limb and give this advise.

We here at Shock Jocks put it in writing where you can always come back and see if we were right or wrong. I got a kick out of watching ESPN's Fantasy Football special and they were bragging about how they told everyone about Brent Celek and Jermichael Finley. If you went into a draft the last two years not knowing about these two players, than 1) You were not prepared for your draft or 2) You do not know enough about football to be playing Fantasy Football. I was waiting for them to name this years surprise tight end however that did not come. I am sure next year they will be ready to brag about how they knew the next big name. I will give you my pick right here. Look at Jermaine Gresham from the Bengals. You will find most magazines have him ranked anywhere from 17 – 28.

If you go into a draft and see your competition drafting from a magazine cheat sheet you will have a huge advantage if your homework was done.
